June 25, 2014, Flamborough, Ont. – Tragedy has struck the
aggregates industry as a worker has been killed at an Ontario quarry.
According to a report from the Hamilton Spectator, emergency
crews were called to a facility at the Carmeuse Lime Quarry just before 2p.m.
An air ambulance was originally called for the man, but was called off after he
was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 29-year-old man was working as a welder at the quarry. He was found on a second story platform near the kilns. While there has been no confirmation of how the death
occurred, there is speculation that it might have been the result of a fall.
The Ministry of Labour was called in to conduct an investigation.
