SAGUENAY, QC – The BEUMER Group has received the contract to supply a large, two-way pipe conveyor system to the Port of Saguenay for use in the port’s new Multi-User Bulk Transport System.

Spanning two kilometres, the conveyor will connect the port with customers in the new industrial port zone. As part of the port’s Multi-User Bulk Transport System, the conveyor will increase the port’s ability to import and export materials including aggregates, ores, pellets, salt and wood chips.

The pipe system will have a downhill export capacity of 4,150 tons per hour and an uphill import rate of 2,750 tons per hour. It will be installed along a pre-existing steep and curvy road to reduce the need for truck transport and associated carbon, dust and noise emissions.

As part of the contract, BEUMER will oversee all mechanical, structural and electrical equipment, including prefabricated buildings and control systems. The system is anticipated to be fully operational in 2025.
