COLUMBUS, IN – Sustainable, zero-carbon hydrogen engines are coming to Terex trucks.

Terex Advance has signed a letter of intent to partner with Cummins Inc. to integrate Cummins’ X15H hydrogen internal combustion engines into their Commander Series line of front-discharge concrete mixer trucks.

Models in the Commander Series are currently manufactured with Cummins’ diesel engines. The  zero-carbon hydrogen fuel option will become available later this decade when the X15H engines begin production.

The X15H engine is a part of Cummins’ overall fuel-agnostic program and is based on familiar internal combustion engine technology, leaving vehicle designs and existing maintenance practices with minimal overhauling to be done.

“We believe that hydrogen internal combustion engines will play an essential part in decarbonizing both on- and off-highway applications,” said Jim Nebergall, general manager for Cummins’ Hydrogen Engine Business. “With diesel-like power and torque the X15H gives our customers a power option that delivers, no matter how hard their trucks work, or how tough the operating environment is.”
