TORONTO, Ont. – The Toronto and Area Road Builders Association (TARBA) has appointed Raly Chakarova to the role of executive director. As a part of this role, Chakarova will also join the Residential and Civil Construction Alliance of Ontario (RCCAO) as a board director.

Chakarova has previously served as the executive director for the BOLT Foundation, in addition to roles as director of policy for the Toronto Region Board of Trade and senior advisor to Ontario’s Minister of economic development and growth. She currently holds membership with the board of ACCESS Employment and RESCON’s Anti-Racism Roundtable.

As TARBA’s new executive director, Chakarova will oversee all aspects of the organization’s operations, among them industry advocacy, member services and collective bargaining. In a statement, Chakarova expressed excitement for the industry and its impacts on the area’s economy and infrastructure.

“The sector plays a vital role in shaping the economic and social landscape of the Toronto region, enabling the movement of goods and people, and supporting job creation and competitiveness,” she said. “I look forward to working with our members, union and government partners on important issues, including the increased use of recycled material in road construction and maintenance – a proven approach to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and project costs.”
