March 11, 2014, Toronto, Ont. – The Board of Directors of
the Cornerstone Standards Council (CSC) is pleased to announce the appointment
of Maia Becker as Executive Director, starting March 3rd, 2014.

CSC is a voluntary and market-based certification system for
the responsible extraction and use of aggregates. Over the past two years, CSC
has worked in collaboration with community, environmental, and industry
representatives to develop the Responsible Aggregate Standard. CSC's Standard
is currently out for public consultation and, once approved by the Board, will
serve as the foundation of CSC's certification program. CSC has benefited
greatly from the leadership and experience of its outgoing Executive Director,
Lorne Johnson.

"It has been my pleasure, over the past two years, to
launch CSC and work with diverse and committed individuals to negotiate the
draft standard," says Johnson. "Maia's extensive experience with
other certification systems will be extremely valuable as CSC moves from the
standard development phase into developing and implementing a credible and
effective audit system. I am looking forward to working with her towards the
successful launch of the certification system."

CSC thanks Lorne for his leadership and is pleased to note
that he will continue to work with CSC to finalize CSC's Responsible Aggregate
Standard.

Maia Becker joins CSC after spending the past ten years as a
leader and advisor for environmental and social certification programs in the
natural resource and construction sectors in Canada and internationally. In her
role as Vice President of the Forest Stewardship Council Canada (FSC), Maia led
initiatives that positioned FSC as the largest and most credible certification
system of its kind in Canada. Maia has a strong track record in not-for-profit
management and multi-stakeholder initiatives, and has participated on the Board
of Directors of CSC and the Canada Green Building Council – Greater Toronto
Chapter. Maia holds an MBA, a Masters in Forest Conservation (MFC), and is a
LEED A.P. and GRI-G3 trained professional.
