SASKATOON, Sask. – The City of Saskatoon bet big on its roads for 2023, putting aside $67 million for road and bridge construction and maintenance in its annual budget. A recent update from this summer’s construction season shows that the city is making good on its promise.

Major bridge rehabilitation on the Circle Drive North Bridge began last February, with work on the westbound side being completed in July. Crews are currently continuing to finish up construction on the bridge’s eastbound side.

Bridgework includes new asphalt and barriers, drainage and concrete improvements and repairs to the bridge’s piers and abutments, with the bridge expected to fully reopen in October.

A number of resurfacing projects have also reached completion, including projects on Circle Drive North, Preston Avenue and Wanuskewin Road. Saskatoon Transit’s Downtown Terminal has also received road and sidewalk upgrades.
