February 13, 2023 By Global News
A man has been charged with impaired driving offences after a vehicle crashed into a construction worker on Allen Road in Toronto causing critical injuries, police say.
Toronto police said emergency crews were called to the scene after 12:30 a.m. on Friday on Allen Road southbound at the Viewmont Avenue overpass. A 38-year-old man was working on the left shoulder in a designated construction area when the driver of a 2009 Volvo XC90 heading south lost control, police said.
The vehicle hit the man before striking a large mound of soil and flipping onto its roof, police said. The victim was taken to Sunnybrook Hospital with life-threatening injuries, where he remains.
