Road construction worker killed in B.C. after being hit by alleged drunk driver

A road construction worker in Nanaino, B.C. has died and another is seriously injured after they were struck by a car with an alleged drunk driver at the wheel.
The crash occurred shortly before midnight on Sept. 23 near Kipp Road, according to local reports.
The driver, a woman in her 40s, failed two breathalyzer tests on the scene and was arrested.
Her car sped southbound on Highway 1 and did not slow down in the stretch of road that’s under construction between Morden Rd. and Duke Point Highway.

The deceased was a man on a night paving crew operated by Hub City Paving.
The injured worker, a woman, is a flagger who works for JSK Traffic Control Services.
