Burlington bridge replacement project to begin this summer

(Source: Google Maps) BURLINGTON, Ont. – A replacement project for Burlington’s Pine Cove Bridge, located between Lakeshore Road and Guelph Line, is set to begin on July 4.
The project was designed by ELLIS Engineering, with a $5.4 million construction contract being awarded to Rankin Construction. Additional work will include road resurfacing, street lighting upgrades, and replacements for culverts, sidewalks, and curbs.
Jeff Thompson, senior project manager of the City of Burlington, said in a press release that the project is urgent due to the current age and wear of the bridge making it a public safety hazard.
Detour routes will be required due to the bridge’s initial design and installation making the maintenance of traffic difficult during the replacement phase.
The project is estimated to be completed by December of this year.
