Wirtgen’s new WRC 240i Rock Crusher is designed to handle an array of tasks, including stone grinding, mixing materials and laying road base.

The latest addition to Wirtgen’s wheeled soil stabilizer line-up, the machine can handle crushing, processing and homogenization tasks for materials including stone, hard core, concrete fragments and cobblestones.

A series of vertically-stacked and hydraulically-adjustable classifying screens allow operators to hone in on their desired grain size outputs. Further adding to this precision are nine rotor speeds, a variable crushing stage and adjustable rotor plate pressure. With a working width of 91 inches and a working depth of 10 inches, the 240i can produce 600 tons of homogenous mix an hour.

The machine can add cement and water to the mix by pre-spreading the cement with a binding agent spreader while spraying water into the crusher’s mixing chamber. Soil stabilization is also made possible by mixing pre-spread binding agents into the existing soil; transforming it into high-grade construction material and evenly depositing it behind the machine.

A number of smart features aim to add to precision and performance. The satellite-based AutoTrac system automatically steers the machine within accurate tolerances of a few centimetres, with the Wirtgen Performance Tracker monitors and logs the 240i’s location and working data.
