Road projects making for a busy 2024 across London, Ont.’s capital works line-up

LONDON, Ont. – The City of London has reported on its continuing capital works projects and new launches for the 2024 construction season, with the line-up featuring a number of road improvement projects.

Planned 2024 projects include improvements to the Sunningdale Road and Richmond Street intersection, Phase 2 of the Fanshawe Park Road and Richmond Street Intersection Improvements project, the Clark’s Bridge widening project between Watson Street and north of the Thames River and Phase 3 of the East London Link.

Projects that have reached or are nearing completion include the Southdale Road and Colonel Talbot Road Roundabout, Phase 1 of the Fanshawe Park Road and Richmond Street Intersection Improvements, the Quebec Street Infrastructure Renewal and Phase 1 of the East London Link along King Street, Dundas Street and Egerton Street.

Excavation and roadbuilding work for the Adelaide Underpass project began in 2023 and will continue over the winter months, with a substantial completion target of summer 2024.

A total of 40 local streets were reconstructed under the Infrastructure Renewal and Local Roads Reconstruction programs over the course of 2023. Details on London’s 2024 construction season schedule and the City’s Renew Construction Program are set to be released in early spring.
