REGINA, Sask. – The City of Regina has offered a promising update on the $113 million of road and infrastructure projects scheduled for 2023.

At an Aug. 23 news conference, Regina’s acting executive director of citizen service, Kurtis Doney, shared that work on 159 road renewal projects has been completed this year so far. This marks more than half of the projects scheduled by the city, some of which include multi-year projects.

Over the course of 2023, more than 10 kilometres of major roads have been upgraded through the city’s Street Infrastructure Renewal Program, along with upgrades to 8.5 kilometres of local roads through the city’s Residential Road Renewal Program.

This is in addition to other upgrades to traffic, safety, and sewer systems, including five kilometres of sidewalks added to roads and the Lewvan Drive renewal project, which was finished five weeks ahead of schedule.

Doney says many of the construction projects are forecasted to be completed on schedule and within budget, including the McCarthy Boulevard renewal, which is expected to reach completion by end of September.
