TORONTO, Ont. – Rose Paul, CEO of Bayside Development Corporation, the business arm of Nova Scotia’s Pagtnkek Mi’kmaw community, has received the Canadian Council for Aboriginal Business’ (CCAB) 2023 Indigenous Women in Leadership (IWIL) award.

Paul is being honoured for the role she played in bringing the first phase of a highway interchange to fruition in her local community, in addition to helping with the development of the Bayside Travel Centre and another new business centre.

“I am earnestly grateful for the recognition I have received for my work, because I am very sure that every other nominee for this award was as capable, if not more, of winning this award,” she said. “I have faced several challenges on my way here, but each one of them has only strengthened me to make me the person I am today.”

The IWIL award is sponsored by LNG Canada, and will be presented to Paul at the CCAB’s Indigenous Women in Leadership Forum in Vancouver this October. The award looks to highlight a “strong leader, mentor and businesswoman who has been instrumental in making a difference that impacts her community or country.”
