Jan. 9, 2012 – Bauma has become a major
attraction for the mining industry: Of the 420,000 trade visitors to bauma in
2010, a good quarter of them were interested in the section on mining, say show
organizers. With this in mind, the next trade fair, to be held April 15-21,
2013, in Munich, will dedicate an exhibition hall and part of the open-air site
to the sector.

With German safety technology
in demand, the mining machinery section of the German Engineering Federation,
the VDMA (Verband Deutscher Maschinen- und Anlagenbau e.V.), has started a
South America Initiative aimed at expanding trade relations with that continent.
"Our high-quality technology helps make mines in South America
safer," stresses Dr. Paul Rheinländer, VDMA chairman.

Also, under the motto of
"Future Mining," the federation has launched a series of events at
Freiburg, Aachen and Clausthal universities to support the mainly medium-sized
companies in the field by co-ordinating research activities and attracting
young engineers.
