November 10, 2014, Saint-Jacques, N.B. – An important
stretch of the TransCanada Highway in New Brunswick has finally reopened for
motorists.
According to a report from the CBC, the 2.8km four-lane stretch
from Saint-Jacques, N.B. to the border with Quebec has opened to traffic four
years after design work began on the project.
The $17 million project was built in conjunction with the
Province of Quebec, which contributed $2.3 million for the construction of an
interchange at the border, as well as for future maintenance of the new
structure.
Quebec has already opened the opposite stretch of the
TransCanada Highway, an 8.5km section of twinned highway between Dégelis and
the New Brunswick border.
