PENTICTON, B.C. – A tender is set to be issued for a project looking to add safety and traffic improvements to the intersection of Highway 97 and Sandhill Road.

The project, a collaboration between the province’s department of infrastructure and transit and the Penticton Indian Band, will feature a new left-turn lane, added sidewalks, improved drainage systems and wider shoulders. A portion of Skaha Hills Drive will also be relocated for improved sightlines and safety.

yilmixwm Chief Greg Gabriel said the road upgrades show a joint commitment to highway safety.

“The Skaha Hills project is a key example of collaboration between the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure and the snpink’tn (Penticton) Indian Band, with its objective to promote safe driving conditions at an increasingly busy Skaha intersection,” the Chief said.
