Roadworker struck by vehicle during Don Valley Parkway construction

TORONTO – A 46-year-old construction worker was struck by a vehicle in the early morning of Tuesday, April 9 during roadwork on the Don Valley Parkway, with an ongoing investigation underway by Toronto Police Services (TPS).

The incident occurred near the Spanbridge Road overpass area of the Don Valley Parkway at 1:11 am when an SUV travelling northbound entered the construction zone. The vehicle did not stop and fled the scene following the incident.

The victim suffered serious but non-life-threating injuries and was transported to the hospital, with the northbound curb and middle lane closed for the night following the incident.

The ongoing investigation is overseen by members of Traffic Services and the Ministry of Labour. Police have shared that the vehicles likely sustained front-end damage and are seeking any information or dash cam footage of the incident.
