OTTAWA – The Government of Ontario is investing $5 million into the development of a new interchange in Ottawa’s Barrhaven area, located at Highway 416 and Barnsdale Road.

The project is part of a new deal between the municipal and provincial governments to address the distinct transportation needs of the Ottawa area, and includes up to $181 million for critical transportation infrastructure projects such as the rehabilitation of Ottawa Road 174 and Kanata’s North Transitway.

The province will work alongside the city to plan and design the interchange, which will also serve the communities of Manotick and Richmond.

“The provincial government understands the unique challenges our city faces. This new funding shows how committed they are to supporting the population growth and development in Ottawa and all of eastern Ontario,” said Ottawa Mayor Mark Sutcliffe. “Advancing the design and construction of a new interchange at Highway 416 and Barnsdale Road will improve infrastructure and connectivity within our communities. It’s a game changer and will transform the way we move around our great city.”
