No warning before Shawnigan Lake gravel-pit blast

Sept. 22, 2011 – When they set the charge, the three workers who were injured in an explosion at Mid-Island Aggregates north of Victoria on Tuesday were expecting the debris to fly high in the air and fall harmlessly to earth, as they watched from a “safe zone” about 200 metres away.
