Windy Lake gravel pit rejected

March 17, 2016 – A proposal for a gravel pit near Windy Lake Provincial Park will not move forward after the landowners have decided not to proceed with the plan.

According to an article from the Sudbury Star, William Day Construction had approached the executives of the Onaping Falls Nordic Ski Club about the possibility of opening an aggregate pit on the Club’s property, which is near the park.

Local residents provided staunch opposition to the proposal, citing that an aggregate pit of any size would have a detrimental effect on the area.
