Median saves road worker from tire

June 6, 2016  By  Andrew Macklin

June 6, 2016 – A road construction crew is breathing a sigh of relief after a close call at a London job site.

According to a CBC News article, the crew was working along Highway 401 near Veterans Memorial Parkway in London when two tires flew off a westbound tractor-trailer. One tire came straight at the construction team on the side of the highway, but hit the concrete median instead.

Flying tires have already taken the life of one motorist in Ontario this year. In January, a 69-year-old man was killed after a tire came off a tractor-trailer along Highway 400 north of Toronto.
