WINNIPEG, Man. – Grant applications are now open for Manitoba’s Quarry Rehabilitation on Private and Municipal Land Program.

Owners of private and municipal land with a registration certificate or private quarry permit after 1992 are eligible for a grant of up to $200,000. A total of $1.8 million in funding will be distributed to owners that successfully demonstrate a quarry rehabilitation project that fits the program’s criteria.

To be eligible, owners must demonstrate a proposed rehabilitation project for their site to be completed by the end of November 2023 that protects the environment, minimizes detrimental impact on adjoining lands, minimizes hazards to public safety, and leaves the site in a state that is compatible with adjoining land uses.

Acceptable project activities include sloping and grading, the moving of oversized boulders and other large materials, the spreading of overburden and topsoil, and the purchasing of seed to cover graded areas.
