Lafarge’s Bath cement plant gets greener upgrades
August 15, 2023 By Rock to Road Staff

BATH, Ont. – Eastern Ontario is getting more sustainable cement solutions, thanks to an update to one of Lafarge’s cement plants in Bath, Ont.
The plant is being retrofitted to produce OneCem, an emission-friendly cement product that looks to reduce the carbon footprint of construction materials and projects. The conversion will reduce the plant’s carbon output by more than 140,000 tons of carbon dioxide per year.
This redesign has involved the removal and replacement of the plant’s kiln dryer, with Belgian heavy lifting company Sarens overseeing this process over the span of one week. Sarens used a crawler crane to help with this procedure.
