Halifax’s green concrete start-up to expand globally following sizeable investment

Halifax, N.S. – CarbonCure Technologies Inc., a sustainable concrete start-up based out of Halifax, has received an $80 million investment from Blue Earth Capital amidst plans for global expansion.

Blue Earth Capital’s investment joins a noteworthy array of current backers that includes Amazon, Microsoft, Samsung and Breakthrough Energy Ventures. This new investment will go toward the company’s expansion into global markets including Europe, the Middle East, Latin America, and Southeast Asia.

CarbonCure’s green technology offers clients concrete that has been injected with CO2, which both strengthens the product and reduces carbon emission in the production process by five per cent.

The company was founded in 2012 and has sold roughly 775 systems to producers since its inception, with 80 per cent of its client base currently in North America.
