RUSSELL, Ont. – Russell municipal council has approved a bid from Blair Asphalt to repave Route 300, with this approval bringing up Russell’s total number of planned paving projects over 2024 to seven.

Blair Asphalt’s bid came in as the lowest of the four proposals at just under $2.5 million; approximately $300,000 under the project’s allotted budget. Due to the remaining financial space, the municipality has recommended adding move paving work to the contract to take advantage of the full budget.

Work on Route 300 is expected to begin this summer, with repaving to occur across an eight kilometre stretch between St-André Road and Notre-Dame Road. Six other area paving projects are planned for the summer: more than two kilometres of St-André Road from Notre-Dame Road to Route 400, two 1.5-kilometre stretches of Route 400, one kilometre of Felton Crescent, less than one kilometre of Cloutier Drive and 40 metres of Ryan Crescent.
