EDMONTON – Jay Nagendran, registrar and chief executive office of the Association of Professional Engineers and Geoscients (APEGA), has announced his retirement and resignation from the organization, set to occur on April 30, 2025.

As part of their search for their new leader, APEGA has selected executive search firm Odgers Berndston to find a suitable candidate for Nagendran’s replacement. The firm is looking at both internal and external candidates, with the search anticipated to conclude before Nagendran’s departure to ensure a smooth transition.

Nagendran has spent seven years in his current leadership position with APEGA, and is eager to help usher in the next chapter of the organization. APEGA is committed to keeping registrants and permit holders informed throughout the process.

“The decision to retire comes after careful consideration and planning,” he said. “APEGA is in a strong position for me to pass the baton to the next leader, and I am eager to see what kinds of new perspectives the successful candidate will bring.”
