Aggregate producer signs agreement to sell lime kiln dust

February 21, 2013  By AGRO-100

February 21, 2013, Montreal QC – AGRO-100 announced that it has entered into a strategic alliance with lime and limestone aggregates producer Graymont for the recovery of lime kiln dust from Graymont’s Joliette plant.

“The products from the agreement will be constituents of the already-existing liming-fertilizing product line,” said AGRO-100 president Stéphane Beaucage. “The value-added will be seen in the product’s capacity to increase the concentration in nutrients of the existing products, as well as their liming ability.”

This agreement will require a short-term investment of $500,000 for the construction of a new warehouse that will be located at AGRO-100’s Joliette fertilizing centre. The new warehouse will allow for over 15,000 metric tons of fertilizing residual matter (FRM) storage capacity. In addition, the warehouse will fully comply with state-of-the-art environmental standards in terms of storage of such materials. These new facilities will have a direct impact on the AGRO-100’s continuing improvements to customer service.

The new building will be able to contain fugitive dusts thanks to its design and sprinkling system of wash water, produced when rinsing liquid fertilizing facilities. These wash waters contain small concentrations in fertilizing elements.
