Volvo CE to relocate global headquarters to city of origin

GOTHENBURG, Sweden – Volvo CE revealed plans to relocate their global headquarters across Sweden, from Gothenburg to the company’s birthplace of Eskilstuna, by August 2023.

Eskilstuna is already home to 2,500 Volvo employees, spread across several of its technology and customer centres. The move also serves to strengthen collaboration and research with Mälardalens University, along with the many technology test labs and a recently installed R&D test track the company has in the city.

The company had its origins in Eskilstuna, having been founded there in 1932. While the move officially takes place this summer, employees are not immediately required to relocate.
