The $2.2-million contract to improve the Coquihalla (Highway 5) in British Columbia (B.C.), has been awarded to Jakes Construction Ltd., with construction beginning in late June 2021.

The Highway 5 Mine Creek Curves project, which will take place about 55 kilometres south of Merritt, includes the installation of a 4-kilometer center median barrier, and widening of the highway shoulder. These improvements will increase safety for those in the region, including commercial truck drivers transporting goods, by reducing the potential of some accidents.

Drivers can expect minor delays during the project, which is expected to be complete by fall 2021.
