Commission moves to limit pits on escarpment

Dec. 8, 2014 – The Niagara Escarpment Commission has proposed that mineral extraction be removed from the Niagara Escarpment Plan as part of its review in 2015.

Dec. 8, 2014 – The Niagara Escarpment Commission has proposed that mineral extraction be removed from the Niagara Escarpment Plan as part of its review in 2015. If the provincial government grants its approval, it will not have any impact on pits currently in operation or that have already been approved for expansion. It will, however, prohibit current operations from making applications to expand.
