The successful 2009 World of Asphalt Show & Conference and co-located AGG1 Aggregates Forum & Expo boasted strong attendance numbers despite a down economy and travel restrictions by many companies. The shows were held March 9-12, 2009 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Florida.

With final registration numbers of 5,800, including 16 per cent international, the co-location also meant a big attendance boost for World of Asphalt which attracted some 3,650 to its 2007 show. This year’s attendees came from more than 60 countries besides the United States, including all major world regions and official delegations from China, India, Mongolia and Russia.

Nearly 400 exhibitors, 10 per cent more than the 2007 show, took 85,900 net square feet of exhibit space to showcase their latest technology and products. In addition, education sessions were an integral part of the event, with nearly 5,700 tickets sold more than 120 sessions that included a new AGG1 Academy and the co-location of the National Traffic Management and Work Zone Safety Conference. Area covered by the AGG1 Academy included operations, safety, environment, technology, management and community relations. Further education programs included People, Plants and Paving Training Program for the latest methods in asphalt paving and production efficiencies; the Asphalt Pavement Alliance (APA) Asphalt Pavement Conference with a focus on design, construction and sustainability of HMA pavements as well as the traffic management and work zone safety conference hosted by the American Road and Transportation Builders Association-Transportation Development Foundation (ARTBA-TDF).
