Work on one of Ontario’s worst-rated roadways to be completed 3 years early
March 2, 2023 By The Daily Press
The major upgrade of Timmins main thoroughfare, once rated among the worst roadways in Ontario, is expected to be completed in shorter time than was previously predicted.
Work that had been progressing every summer was originally expected to wrap up in 2033; but Timmins council received an update on that timeline from Brenan Kennedy, project manager with AECOM, that work on the Connecting Link is now scheduled to end in 2030, three years earlier.
It was noted that a provincial funding announcement made last year, providing the city with an additional $73.8 million over the next eight years, is what helped to accelerate the project.
