Virtual workshops open opportunities for skilled trades and technology career-focused youths
June 2, 2021 By Rock to Road Staff
Supporting youths in their goals and ambitions will always be a crucial pillar in the foundation of Canada’s future. With a number of learning opportunities and educational programs dedicated to adolescents that aspire for careers as doctors, lawyers, politicians, and teachers, it is important that those who have an interest in skilled trades and technology careers also be provided with the same educational and learning opportunities.
To ensure young Ontarians are being provided with these opportunities, Skills Ontario has officially opened registration for its July virtual workshops.
This program, which is open to all ages but is typically suited for students in grades 7 to 9, features Skills Ontario staff, volunteers, and partners, who will host fun and engaging skilled trade and tech-related workshops, demonstrations, virtual tours, and presentations.
“As an organization dedicated to inspiring Ontarians to explore skilled careers, we look forward to hosting sessions for youth across Ontario,” said Ian Howcroft, CEO of Skills Ontario. “The skilled trades and technologies offer a vast variety of career paths, and we aim to showcase that through our fun and diverse array of workshops. We’re thrilled to continue to deliver programs that empower and inspire Ontarians.”
Held from July 5 to 30, participants of the virtual workshops can build their own summer schedule and register for the sessions that pique their interest, with no required participation fee.
Each session’s registration page provides full details regarding the difficulty level and skills required, with some sessions additionally including a free hands-on kit that will be shipped to registered participants.
Sessions will also run in August, with sign-up set to open on June 21.
