October 14, 2021  By Rock to Road Staff

The union representing workers at Deere & Company in the U.S. has called a strike against the equipment manufacturer.

The International Union, United Automobile, Aerospace and Agricultural Implement Workers of America (UAW)’s strike action impacts more than 10,000 workers at 14 facilities across the United States.

“John Deere is committed to a favourable outcome for our employees, our communities, and everyone involved,” says Brad Morris, vice-president of labour relations for Deere & Company, in a statement.

Morris says the company is committed to resolving the labour dispute. “We will keep working day and night to understand our employees’ priorities and resolve this strike, while also keeping our operations running for the benefit of all those we serve,” he says.

Deere & Company does not currently have an estimate of when employees affected by the strike will resume activities or the timing for completion of negotiations with the UAW.
