Timeline suggested for 427 extension
June 2, 2015 By Andrew Macklin
June 2, 2015 – Ontario Ministry of Transportation officials have provided a potential timeline for the completion of an extension of Highway 427 northwest of Toronto.
According to a report from the Vaughn Citizen, MTO officials told Vaughn city councilors during a committee meeting that the extension could be completed by the end of 2019 provided that no roadblocks were encountered during the construction.
The 6.6km northern extension, originally approved in May of 2013, would consist of a six-lane section from Highway 7 to Rutherford Road, then a four-lane section from Rutherford Road to Major Mackenzie Drive.
MTO officials suggested during the same meeting that the earliest construction is likely to start is the fall of 2016, and that the project would take approximately three years.
