Three Ontario safety associations merge

January 12, 2010
CSAO,
E&USA, and THSAO merge to create new organization called IHSA.

The New Year has delivered a new
organization called the Infrastructure Health and Safety Association (IHSA),
formed by the uniting of three existing health and safety organizations.

IHSA was created on January 1, 2010, from
the merger of three organizations: the Construction Safety Association of
Ontario (CSAO), the Electrical & Utilities Safety Association of Ontario (E&USA), and
the Transportation Health and Safety Association of Ontario (THSAO). Now, IHSA
serves the aggregates, construction, electrical, pipelines, ready-mix concrete,
transportation, and utilities industries.

The launch of IHSA is part of a larger
realignment of Ontario’s
twelve safe workplace associations. The primary objective of the realignment is
to increase front-line services by reallocating existing resources.

IHSA is one of four newly-created health
and safety associations that came out of the realignment process. The other
three are Workplace Safety North, Health and Safety Association for Government
Services, and Safe Workplace Promotion Services Ontario.
