Teranorth awarded Highway 11/17 project

June 10, 2015 – Teranorth Construction and Engineering Ltd. has been awarded close to $120 million in contracts for the continued expansion of Highway 11/17 from Thunder Bay to Nipigon in northern Ontario.

According to tbnewswatch.com, the two contract worth a combined $117.1 million are for four-laning an 11.8 kilometre stretch of 11/17 from Red Rock Road No. 9 to Stillwater Creek and a 6.6 kilometre stretch from Birch Beach to Pass Lake. The first stretch has a targeted completion date of 2021, while the second stretch is expected to be finished by the end of 2017.

Teranorth expects extensive rock blasting and excavation work will be necessary for the project. The company recently completed the first stage of four-laning between Thunder Bay and Nipigon, a stretch of 11/17 from Hodder Avenue to Highway 527.
