ShearForce Equipment picks up where Terrafirma left off in northern Alberta

September 11, 2019  By ShearForce

Sept. 11, 2019 – ShearForce Equipment and former employees of TerraFirma Equipment have announced they are joining forces in northern Alberta to provide sales, rentals, parts, and repair and maintenance services for hydraulic excavator attachments.

They are not only expanding their regional support capacity across northern Alberta, but also the product lines they can service and repair. The news comes following the announcement of the closure of Terrafirma Equipment Sales and Rentals Inc. in Edmonton, a long-standing equipment dealer with more than 50 years of dedication and experience in servicing their rental and sales customers across northern Alberta. With the opening of their new sales and service center in Airdrie, Alberta, this past July, the move cements ShearForce as Western Canada’s hydraulic attachment specialists, now offering local on-the-ground support across B.C. and Alberta.

Three familiar faces from Terrafirma have joined the ShearForce team in northern Alberta to ensure Terrafirma’s current customers are sufficiently supported and their equipment needs are met now and into the future. Dave Rock is continuing on in his role as operations manager for a brand-new facility just outside of Edmonton and will focus on meeting equipment needs in northern Alberta, northeastern B.C., northern Saskatchewan and beyond.

Heavy-duty technician Justin Rasmussen will continue to provide top notch technical support across the northern region. Jessica Hansen will carry on in her role as product support and office co-ordinator.

ShearForce has secured a new facility in Nisku and will offer in-shop services including attachment rebuilds and machine hydraulic setups in the coming weeks. Dave, Justin, and Jessica will also be working closely with the team at ShearForce’s Airdrie facility to ensure parts and services are readily available to customers across the province.

For the management team at ShearForce Equipment, timing was essential to making the move into northern Alberta.

“We were focused on building our presence in central Alberta with the new facility in Airdrie this summer, and when the opportunity arose, we knew we had to jump at the chance to enhance our service offering to the entire province,” said president Brad Dewit. “We feel fortunate to have the opportunity to prove that we are up to the challenge of supporting our collective customers’ needs with our enhanced sales and support capabilities across all the regions we serve.”

Dave Rock, operations manager for the new Nisku facility, joins ShearForce after functioning in the same role at Terrafirma for the past two years. Dave will lead the setup of the new branch, as well as co-ordinate sales and rentals with the support of the ShearForce team at the Airdrie office.

“We’re looking forward to be able to carry on with offering solid support for our long-standing Terrafirma customers right here in Nisku. We’re confident we already have the space, people, and resources to offer more immediate solutions to our customers with specialized local support.”

ShearForce will continue to back all of Terrafirma’s attachments for excavators, backhoes, and skid steers with parts, service, and technical support, including Allied hammers and compactors, HKS actuators, Epiroc (Atlas Copco) hammers, compactors and demolition attachments, Rotar shears, screening buckets, pulverizers, and demo grabs, Vibra-Ram shears and pulverizers, and Antraquip saws and drum cutters.

They will also have a small fleet of demolition excavators available for rent in northern Alberta and beyond, along with their full line-up of hydraulic attachments, including hammers, hydraulic rippers, demolition pulverizers, brush cutters, mobile scrap shears, and more.
