June 2, 2014, Vancouver, B.C. – The South Fraser Perimeter
Road has received bronze accreditation from an LEED-style certification
program.
According to a report from the Journal of Commerce, the SFPR
was part of a pilot project undertaken by the Greenroads Foundation in Redmond,
Wash., which is working on a system for judging the sustainable design and
construction of roadways.
The SFPR was the largest and longest pilot program undertaken
by the Greenroads Foundation to date. The Foundation is also at various stages
of evaluation for three road projects in Ontario, as well as one in Alberta.
The Foundation is also currently evaluating projects in the
U.S., Italy, New Zealand, Taiwan, South Arica and the United Arab Emirates.
