a foothold in the North American market have proven unsuccessful.

According to a report in the Wall Street Journal, a large investment in the
U.S. has been met with little results. At the same time, Cat continues to
struggle to do the opposite: use their strong presence in North America to
breakthrough the Chinese heavy equipment market.
