New roundabout on Hwy 21 in Bruce and Grey Counties

July 15, 2016 – The Province of Ontario is investing more than $3 million to construct a new roundabout on Highway 21 at Grey-Bruce Line/Bruce Road 10, making travel easier for families and businesses in the region.

Roundabouts have several benefits at intersections including:
•Safety – the lower speeds help reduce the potential for collisions;
•Fewer stops and shorter delays – yielding at the entry of a roundabout takes less time than waiting for a green light at an intersection or for a gap in traffic at a stop sign;
•Higher capacity of vehicles – a high volume of vehicles turning left allows more traffic to move through that the traditional intersection;
•Less idling and air pollution – fewer delays reduces fuel consumption and improves air quality by reducing emissions.

Harold Sutherland Construction Ltd. of Kemble, Ontario was awarded the contract. Construction began earlier this week and is anticipated to be completed in summer of 2017.
