RFP issued for Nunavut all-weather road

January 7, 2016 – A Request for Proposals has been released for the construction of a 64-kilometre all-weather road in Nunavut.
According to a report from the Nunatsiaq News in Iqaluit, the road will connect the Agnico Eagle Mines Ltd. Meadowbank mine site to the company’s Amaruq exploration camp.
The first phase of construction of the road is set to begin next month, which will involve a 16km stretch from the mine site to the Vault area.
A third RFP, involving the construction of nine bridges, has also been released. The bridges will allow for the transportation of goods and personnel in and out of the Amaruq site.
