Quarry Tech coming to Halifax next week!

February 7, 2020
By Andrew Snook

Rock to Road’s one-day forum for optimizing quarry and pit operations will come to Halifax for the first time on February 12!

Don’t miss out on a great opportunity to learn tips for maximizing production and reducing operational costs for your pits and quarries.

Here’s a sneak peek at some of the great topics that will be presented:

Plug and play automation

Multi-plant setups bring complexity to sites in terms of control, maintenance and safety. Spencer Kossl from Terex MPS will discuss how automation can connect both portable and modular systems together for a simple low-cost solution that improves communication and diagnostics.

Canadian drone regulations, compliance management and training

In June 2019, Transport Canada released new regulations regarding remotely piloted aviation systems (RPAS) operated in visual line of sight, bringing Canadian drone law up to international standards. Travis Harvey, chief pilot for AeroVision Canada, will tackle these topics and answer your drone-related questions.

Solving screening problems

This presentation by Polydeck’s Jef McGee and Alex Caruana aims to help aggregates operators think of screening as a relatively predictable part of their operation and help stabilize any problem units in their screening circuit. It will tackle the top five screening issues every producer faces.

Maximizing your cone crusher performance

To remain at peak levels requires proactive maintenance practices, combined with expert consultation and continuing education. Superior Industries’ Matt Gerten will tackle these subjects to help maximize your cone crusher performance.

Optimizing feeders and hoppers

Mike Leger of Syntron Material Handling will discuss the critical factors for optimizing your vibratory feeders and hoppers; the advantages of electromagnetic feeders; and will also discuss standard and specialty conveyor belt idlers and rollers operating in difficult applications and environments.

Bearing maintenance best practices

Mario Borsella from NTN Bearing Corporation of Canada will discuss bearing solutions for conveyors and will provide an overview of the common failure modes associated with bearings used on conveyor applications. Mario will discuss how to implement bearing best maintenance practices to avoid costly bearing failures.

Innovative quarry optimization ideas

In 2020, fleet managers, quarry managers and performance managers have exciting new opportunities to improve productivity and efficiency with existing assets. In many cases, quarries just need to connect the scale sensors they already own. Trimble Loadrite’s Joe Steiger will show how easy it can be for quarries to use new smartscales and monitoring tools to help track material flow from pit to loadout; improve safety across the site; provide outstanding customer service; and identify areas for improvement.
