Quarry expansion in Bracebridge headed to tribunal

October 17, 2022  By  Don Horne

The controversial expansion of the Child’s Pit and Quarry will likely be heading to tribunal following approval at the Bracebridge, Ont. council.

Protesters with “No Muskoka Mega Quarry” signs gathered outside Bracebridge town hall before filing in to listen to the last of the delegations on the matter before council made its decision.

Laura Pratt, one of several delegates – who represents some 880 residents through the non-profit group Muskoka Environmental Alliance – told reporters before the meeting that she had already retained the paperwork to file an Ontario Land Tribunal appeal if council chose to vote in favour of a zoning amendment allowing for the quarry expansion.
