after a community meeting regarding a proposed pit near Burford, Ontario was
met with a barrage of discouragement from members of the community. Citing
concerns over water usage, loss of farmland, truck traffic and decreasing
property values, over 60 people voiced their displeasure for the pit.

property values, over 60 people voiced their displeasure for the pit.
St.
Marys officials did their best to show the community members that due diligence
had been done to address their concerns, providing documentation regarding a
series of studies that had been done in advance of filing for a licence to
extract aggregate from a 50-acre plot of farmland.
