January 14, 2014, Guelph, Ont. – The aggregates and road building industry is mourning the loss of David Lloyd Stephens, the former President and Owner of Capital Paving Inc., Stephens and Rankin Inc. and DL Stephens Contracting Ltd.
Stephens was a long-time fixture of the industry in Ontario. He opened DL Stephens Contracting in 1967 in St. Catherines and then went on to building Stephens and Rankin Inc. In 1982, he acquired Capital Paving and built it in to one of Ontario's largest and most respected paving businesses. Stephens retired in 1998 after 31 years in the industry.
Stephens is also widely recognized for his contributions to industry associations having served as a long time member of the Ontario Stone, Sand and Gravel Association, the Ontario Road Builders' Association and the Ontario Hot Mix Producers Association.
