Overpass demolition to make way for new mountain highway interchange

Drivers and residents are advised of night-time demolition of the Old Mountain Highway Overpass, as part of the Lower Lynn Improvement Project to ease congestion on the North Shore.

Starting April 27, 2019, Highway 1 will be closed between the Lynn Valley and Fern Street exits during demolition. Detour routes will be in place and drivers are reminded to slow down and drive with caution. Road maintenance vehicles will be actively working on this route to ensure safe road conditions.

Nearby residents may be affected by noise caused by demolition equipment. The ministry is making every effort to complete this work as quickly and safely as possible to minimize disturbances to the community.

The following dates and times are scheduled for night work:

The Lower Lynn Improvement Project will shorten commute times and improve safety for drivers, pedestrians and cyclists on the North Shore.
