Seminars, industry presentations, and static
displays all focused on new technology for the aggregate industry. Two morning
presentations involved two very different technological innovations that are
helping to create a better working environment. A presentation by Kyle
Hutchinson of Toromont CAT took a look at the impact of Tier 4 interim and Tier
4 Final technology for both machine operators and the environment. The second
presentation was given by Steve MacDonald of Golder Associates, who introduced
the audience to some of the new products helping to provide a quality working
environment for all employees, and also helps to take a proactive approach to injury prevention.

During the afternoon sessions, a handful of
associate members of OSSGA introduced their newest products to those in
attendance. The new products included crushing and screening equipment, closed
loop systems, and hybrid wheel loaders just to name a few. In addition to those
new products, a full lineup of exhibitors provided even more insight into the
newest products for the aggregate industry that are now available in Canada.

Day two of the event features a keynote
presentation by Canada’s 2012 Olympic Women’s Soccer Coach John Herdman, as
well as industry presentations on subjects ranging from Managing Our Safety Culture to the industry implications of
NPC:300.
