The point of contention is the last 1.7km of the Gardiner
Expressway, the main artery running between the city’s downtown core and Lake
Ontario. The stretch of road handles approximately 5,500 cars and trucks during
peak morning rush hours.

The three options being presented are based on maintaining
the current structure, removing the current structure, as well as a hybrid
option. The three options are costed based on initial work and the 100-year
life cycle of the roadway put in place.
