Lower housing starts projected in 2013 Sales, new listings and prices of housing starts have been increasing in 2013 following a period of declines that lasted throughout the end of 2012. The CMHC is expecting housing starts to gain more momentum in the later part of this year and into 2014, but still be lower than in 2012.
Philippi-Hagenbuch appoints new president Philippi-Hagenbuch has promoted Danette Hagenbuch Swank to president of the company starting July 2013. Swank has worked for PHIL for 16 years and played a large role in several of the company’s succesful projects.

Lafarge sells gypsum operations Lafarge sold its gypsum assets to an affiliate of Lone Star Funds for more than $700 million. Its gypsum division manufactures wallboards and joint compounds and focuses on cement, aggregates and ready-mix concrete in a number of plants throughout Canada and the U.S.
